Dr. Wes Spangler is the Medical Director of Riverbend Veterinary PetCare Hospital, and co-owner and Medical Director of TotalBond Veterinary Hospital at Paw Creek and a Fear Free Certified veterinarian. He is originally from a small beef cattle farm in Southern Virginia and says that his time on the farm shaped his lifelong passion for animals. He completed he undergraduate work at Virginia Tech and earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from The Ohio State University in 2017. Dr. Spangler moved to the Gastonia area following graduation where he spent two years at our Forestbrook location as an associate veterinarian before moving to Paw Creek. His professional interests include cardiology, oncology, and surgery, as well as providing understandable, yet thorough, client education.
Outside of the hospital, Wes spends much of his time outdoors hiking, biking, kayaking, and more with his newly adopted dog, Shadow. He enjoys watching and playing music, exploring the area with friends, and just relaxing with his cat, Rikku, while watching Game of Thrones.
Dr. Luke Boliek was born and raised in Greenville, South Carolina. Growing up he had a love for science and animals and in high school researched and wrote a report on careers in animal care positions which led to his future in the veterinary world. Dr. Boliek received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology with a minor in Communication Studies from Davidson College. He even shadowed Dr. Hay at our Davidson location before heading to the University of Georgia to receive his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine.
Dr. Boliek's areas of professional interest include preventative medicine, client education, dermatology, and acupuncture. He is Fear Free Certified and strives to give each animal a positive experience when coming to the hospital. Though Dr. Boliek does not currently have any pets, he loves little dogs, especially Shih Tzus. When Dr. Boliek is not taking care of animals, he loves going to the movies, reading, hiking, and trying new restaurants around Charlotte. Some fun facts about Dr. Boliek are that he was a NCAA Division I athlete in college for swimming, loves Mexican food, and loves Disney and Marvel movies.
Dr. Andi Eways is the newest Associate Veterinarian with TotalBond Veterinary Hospital at Paw Creek. Dr. Eways received her Bachelor of Science in Biology in 2018 from Florida Southern College and went on to receive her Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery from the University of Edinburgh in Scotland in 2022. Her areas of professional interest include soft tissue surgery, neurology, and shelter/emergency medicine.
While Dr. Eways was still in high school, she began shadowing at her local animal hospital. Throughout her undergraduate degree, she was able to volunteer at SPCA as well as at a wolf sanctuary. Dr. Eways knew from a young age she wanted to work with animals, always wanting to rescue and help any stray she could. She loves building lasting relationships with clients and providing the best care possible for their pets.
Dr. Eways has been all over the map, and after moving from Pennsylvania to Scotland for her Veterinary Degree, she now resides in Charlotte, North Carolina. She has settled in with her 4-year-old cat Atlas and her 5-month-old foster-fail kitten Taz (short for Tasmanian). When Dr. Eways has time outside of the practice, she loves to hike, read, try new restaurants, and of course, spend time with her friends and family.
Dr. Shauna Gross earned a Bachelor's degree in Natural Resource Ecology and Management from Oklahoma State University, with a focus on wildlife biology and pre-veterinary sciences. She then pursued her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in her home state at Iowa State University.
Prior to veterinary school, Dr. Gross gained valuable experience working as a veterinary technician at a small animal and exotics general practice in Oklahoma and completing an internship at a wildlife rehabilitation center. These experiences helped foster her passion for working with animals. Her professional interests include soft tissue surgery, preventative medicine, and ophthalmology.
Outside of practicing veterinary medicine, Dr. Gross plays on a Charlotte mixed ultimate frisbee club team, enjoys hiking, and is an avid reader. Dr. Gross and her husband share their home with two beloved pets: an English Setter named Cecil and a cat named Felix.
Rhonda is the Practice Manager at our PawCreek hospital. She started as a Customer Service Representative with TotalBond in 2014. Rhonda has two pets who keep her very busy: Punkin, a pug mix and Nova, a pit bull. She and her family love to travel, but especially love taking small day trips with the dogs. Nova loves to ride in the car, no matter where they go! Rhonda is passionate about customer care, making sure that each client’s needs are taken care of and their concerns are met with understanding. Rhonda is also Fear Free Certified, which means she'll help your pets with a fear-free experience when visiting PawCreek!
Adrienne has been with TotalBond for more than 20 years. She moved to the PawCreek location as a Customer Care Representative in 2017 and is Fear Free Certified. Adrienne loves welcoming pets and clients as they come through the doors. She is passionate about customer care and make sure the clients are taken care of, so their pets have the best experience possible. Adrienne loves working for TotalBond, and it shows in everything she does!
Brittany became a part of the PawCreek team in September 2022 as a Veterinary Assistant and now rotates between both the PawCreek and RiverBend locations. Her passion for animals began at a young age, leading her to start her veterinary career with racehorses in 2017 before transitioning to small animal medicine. Brittany is dedicated to client education, dermatology, and ensuring that your pets receive the highest quality care. Outside of work, she enjoys tending to her plants, reading, and spending time with her three cats-Jasper, Tigerlilly, and Ally-and her Doberman, Drake.
Cindy joined the PawCreek team in January of 2019. She has an extensive background in customer service and has a passion for animals, especially rescues. She has her own dog at home, Addie, a 7-year-old Beagle mix, who she adopted from CharMeck Animal Control. Cindy has been married 24 years and has two children. She is an integral part of the team at PawCreek, and makes sure our clients are met a friendly face, as well as care and compassion.
Genevieve joined the PawCreek team in August 2020 as a kennel assistant but has been promoted to Senior Veterinary Assistant in the past year. She is currently enrolled in Veterinary Assistant program through the National Association of Veterinary Technicians in America. When she's not caring for the patients of the PawCreek family, Genevieve loves taking her dog Ziggy with her anywhere she can! They like to hike, hang with friends, and explore new dog-friendly places around Charlotte. Genevieve is passionate about making sure all of our patients are taken care of and making sure they have a voice while in her care!
Jonnetta is a Senior Veterinary Assistant at PawCreek. She started with TotalBond as an animal caregiver in 2017. Jonnetta is heavily involved in musical and theater-related activities. Her hobbies include reading, napping and trying new crafts. Jonnetta is very passionate about animal care and learning more about animal behavior. Her ultimate goal is to become a Veterinarian.
Kathryn came to us in 2021 but has been a Registered Veterinary Technician since 2007. She has a passion for animal behavior and loves helping clients understand their pets. Kathryn also has a great love of giant breed dogs and pitties. She has a Great Dane and Plott hound Pitt mix. When she's not at work playing with your pets, she loves crocheting, crafting, photography, and spending time with her husband and 3 children exploring the East coast.
Miranda is our Inventory Manager, who started here at PawCreek in 2019. Miranda spends the majority of her time at the Gaston County Animal Shelter or playing with her own rescue pets - Trax, a German Shorthair Pointer and her 3 cats, Bella, Winnie and Nala. Miranda loves to kayak and hike, as well as pet-sit. Her passion has always been working with, and advocating for animals.
Shannon became a Registered Veterinary Technician in 2013 and joined the PawCreek team July 2014 . She has affectionally been nicknamed our "cat whisperer." Shannon loves all of the patients she treats, but has a special place in her heart for making sure our feline pets have the most stress-free experience possible. During her off-time, Shannon loves taking her hound-mix, Duke, and her chihuahua-mix, Mason, hiking and exploring around the North Carolina mountains. She also has 2 feline family members, Huck and June.
Victoria has been a Customer Service Representative at PawCreek since April 2021. Victoria has a passion for our feline patients - she has 8 cats herself and 1 dog. Victoria loves to educate clients on the benefits of heartworm and flea/tick preventatives. When she's not taking care of our PawCreek patients, Victoria enjoys watching movies, listening to records, and painting.
